The aircraft safely landed back at Thiruvananthapuram airport, where passengers were escorted to the terminal. Airport officials confirmed that arrangements were being made for travellers while further updates from Dubai authorities were awaited.
Drone Attack Near Dubai Airport Causes Temporary Shutdown
Dubai authorities confirmed that a drone strike had caused a fire in a fuel tank located near the perimeter of Dubai International Airport. Emergency services quickly responded and brought the situation under control by Monday afternoon. Officials also confirmed that no injuries were reported in the incident.
The Dubai Media Office stated that the drone incident affected one of the airport’s fuel tanks, prompting authorities to temporarily suspend flight operations for safety reasons. Police also closed several nearby roads and tunnels connected to the airport while emergency teams handled the situation.
Following the disruption, Emirates airline temporarily halted all departures from Dubai. Several inbound flights were redirected to Al Maktoum International Airport, which serves as the city’s secondary aviation hub. Authorities have not yet confirmed when full operations at Dubai International Airport will resume.
