India Reports 4,026 Active COVID-19 Cases; Delhi, Kerala, and Maharashtra See Daily Spike

India’s COVID-19 tally has risen to 4,026 active cases, with 65 new infections reported in the past 24 hours. Delhi recorded 47 fresh cases, pushing the capital’s total case count to 483. Kerala followed with 35 new cases, as health authorities continue to monitor the growing trend.

Despite the increase, hospitalisation rates remain low across the country.

In Karnataka, the state government has acknowledged a rise in COVID-19 cases but assured the public that the situation is under control. State Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao stated that recent COVID-related deaths in Karnataka were not directly caused by the virus but were primarily linked to pre-existing medical conditions.

“This COVID strain is causing mild infections and not leading to severe illness,” Rao said. “However, we are alert and fully prepared. All critical infrastructure—oxygen supply, hospital beds, and ventilators—is being upgraded to handle any potential emergency.”

He urged the public not to panic but to remain cautious, especially those with low immunity. Basic hygiene practices and mask-wearing were advised for immunocompromised individuals.

Haryana reported 18 new COVID-19 cases, with 14 from Gurugram, Faridabad, and Karnal. Notably, there were no hospital admissions as of Monday.

Maharashtra saw 59 new cases on June 2, including 20 from Mumbai alone. The total number of COVID-19 infections in the state since January 1, 2025, has reached 873.

Health authorities across states continue to emphasize precautionary measures while preparing for any possible escalation in cases.
