On the fourth day of the Ranchi Test, Team India beat South Africa 202 runs, and an Innings with this India won the series 3-0. The South African team, which scored 162 runs in the first innings, could only manage 133 runs in the second innings. Team India won the 11th consecutive test series at home turf. Along with winning this series, Virat Kohli as captain has gained many achievements which placed him in the category of greatest captains

Virat Kohli is the first captain of India who has won the two-Test series against South Africa. Before him, Ganguly and Sachin have won 1-1 series against South Africa. This is the 9th time India won a match by an inning in Virat Kohli captaincy. Virat Kholi has equaled MS Dhoni with this. Dhoni also won 9 Test matches by an innings margin. Virat passed Azharuddin as he won Ranchi Test by an innings margin. 

Team India has won 7 out of 10 Tests against South Africa led by Virat Kohli. His win percentage is 70. Where the former captains of India have won 7 out of 29 Test matches togeather. Their winning percentage is 24.14. This is the biggest win by any Indian captain against South Africa. Apart from this, South Africa faced the biggest defeat against Australia in 2001 when the Australian team defeated them by 360 runs and an innings.

If we talk about on an International level Virat Kohli is one step behind former Australian captain Ricky Pointing as his team won 8 matches against South Africa. After winning this series, Virat Kohli said in the post-match presentation, ' The way boys are playing is fantastic. Bowlers are bowling well on any pitch where there is not that much help, and I am proud of the team. If we go outside the country, then we want to give a better fight.' The team has done a lot of work on its attitude. Virat further added, ' to be the best team in the world; you should be better in every department. As everybody knows, spin was always our strength. Batting has never been a problem for us. We scored runs in every test match, and bowling is also good. I think we can win test matches everywhere. If we keep working hard, we will surely get good results.
