Balasubrahmanyam, the legend of Indian cinema, has passed away. The 74-year-old veteran singer breathed his last at the MGM Hospital in Chennai, where he was admitted in August after the infection of Covid-19. The Covid-19 test of SP was negative but was placed on a ventilator in the hospital due to a lack of health improvement. On Thursday (September 24), his health deteriorated considerably and was placed on a life-supporting system. The hospital had also issued medical bulletins and reported it. In SP's passing away, the Indian film industry is in grief, and stars are giving tribute to him.
SP was admitted to MGM Healthcare Hospital, Chennai, on August 5. They had mild symptoms of coronavirus. He himself gave the information through a video on Facebook. In this video, SP had expressed hope that he would be able to return home in a few days, but destiny decided something else. On September 7, his son SP Charan had informed that his Covid-19 test had come negative. However, he was not removed from the ventilator due to the bad lung condition.
With SP's passing away, the entertainment world is in great pity, and tributes are being given to him. Akshay Kumar wrote: "I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing away of Balasubrahmanyam Ji. He spoke to him at the virtual concert during the lockdown. He was fully healthy and happy at that moment. Life is really unpredictable—my thoughts to the family.
SP was mainly known as Salman Khan's voice in the Hindi film industry. In the era of nineties, he sang many hit songs for Salman. Salman also tweeted on Thursday night, seeking his prayers for his health. He wrote: Balasubrahmanyam, sir. I am praying wholeheartedly for your health, and thank you for every song that you sang for me and made the heart-mad hero love special. Love you, sir. Kamal Hassan also paid homage to SP Balasubrahmanyam. On Thursday, Kamal also went to the hospital to find out his health.
Balasubrahmanyam was known for a humble and wonderful voice. Music master and Oscar winner AR Rahman has shared his picture with SP on Twitter and wrote devastated. Balasubrahmanyam was the veteran of the film singing. He finished more than 40 thousand songs in 16 languages in his melodious voice. His name is also recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records. He was also honored with Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan with all film awards. As a playback singer, he started his career in 1966 from Telugu film Sri Sri Sri Maryada Ramanna.
