Passport Verification Process: The procedure for obtaining a passport for foreign travel has undergone significant alteration. To apply for a new visa, applicants must now visit the government website DigiLocker. DigiLocker must be used to upload every document. Once their paperwork has been received, applicants can submit their applications online through the official website passportindia.gov.in.
No need to carry a copy of the document.
The Ministry of External Affairs has informed applicants that they would not need to bring any paper copies of any documents during the application procedure if they upload their documents using DigiLocker. Additionally, speeding up the process, this step is anticipated to improve the standard of the passport application procedure.
Why was this rule brought?
DigiLocker has been implemented to speed up the passport application process. Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSK) and Passport Seva Kendras have been established concurrently in many locations to reduce the need for physical document verification.
What is DigiLocker?
A digital wallet service offered by the Indian Ministry of Electronics and Information is called DigiLocker. Users can gather and safely store all government-issued documents under this and easily access them when necessary. Documents such as a driver's license, proof of vehicle registration, academic transcripts, and other records can be saved in DigiLocker.
Can keep from Aadhaar to Passport.
The Ministry now permits the submission of online applications using Aadhaar documents via DigiLocker. On DigiLocker, you can securely save any certificate, PAN card, Aadhaar card, passport, and voter ID card.
How to use DigiLocker?
Users must register using a cellphone number connected to Aadhaar to open a DigiLocker account. Users will receive a One-Time Passcode (OTP) on the mobile number connected to their DigiLocker accounts. On the other hand, if you want to change anything about DigiLocker, you must change Aadhaar.
