According to UIDAI, the limit for changing the name and date of birth of the Aadhaar card has been fixed. You will no longer need to submit a lot of documents to update the information in Aadhaar. UIDAI has changed the rules on this.
According to UIDAI's director, the name can be changed only twice during the entire lifetime. Thereafter, it will not be exempted. People will have to submit one of the documents like passport, driving license, identity card, and letterhead of the educational institution to get the names updated. The name can then be changed.
As per the UIDAI director, only one-time relaxation will be given on the date of birth. Some conditions have been laid down for this. Under these conditions, if the Aadhaar card has a difference of three or fewer years of your age, you can improve the relevant documents by visiting the nearest Aadhaar facility. While there is a gap of more than three years at the age, you have to take documents at the regional base center.
To change in date of birth, you will have to take any of the documents issued by group-A gazetted officer on the birth certificate, pan card, passport, letterhead, certificate of photo identity card, or ex-servicemen photo ID letterhead, class 10 or XII certificate. UIDAI says that the gender improvement facility in Aadhaar will be provided once.
Talking about other rules for updating Aadhaar, it is necessary to update the Aadhaar card if you change your city or change the address. For this, you need to go to the Aadhaar service center and update it by giving them full information. At the Base Centre, you have to pay Rs 50 + GST charge for demographic changes. Also, if you have to make biometric updates, you will have to pay Rs. 50 + GST charge. Also, For Aadhaar search (e-KYC, color print out), Rs. 30 + GST charge will have to be charged.
