Traveling to Noida Airport will now be as simple as traveling to Indira Gandhi International Airport via the Metro from New Delhi Railway Station due to the ongoing preparations for the metro's operation between New Delhi Railway Station and Noida International Airport. When ready, a corridor will allow passengers to travel by metro from Noida International Airport to IGI Airport and New Delhi Railway Station. On this, Express Metro will run.
In reality, the Uttar Pradesh government is preparing to expedite the building of a high-speed metro link between the airports of Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi and the yet-to-be-built Jewar International Airport in Greater Noida. Before Jewar Airport opened the following year, efforts were being made to launch metro operations along this line.
The number of stations may decrease.
According to a Times story, a high-level conference will be convened on June 14 in Lucknow itself to discuss the planning for this metro project. The meeting will be presided over by UP Chief Secretary DS Mishra. A decision is expected to be made on how many stations will be used in this. In the past, it was intended to construct 11 stations along the entire corridor. There are proposals to build 4 stations in the second phase and 7 stations between Noida International Airport and Knowledge Park II. In September 2022, the DPR for the initial phase was approved. The second phase of the 37 km metro line would link Greater Noida's Knowledge Park II to the New Delhi Metro Station.
Jewar airport will start next year.
The first phase of Noida International Airport in Jewar is now being built, and trial flights will begin there early next year. Commercial services are anticipated to begin there in October 2024. An estimated 12 million passengers will fly out of Noida airport each year, most of which come from the Delhi NCR. Because of this, the connectivity of Delhi-NCR to Noida Airport is given considerable attention.
