International Museum Day 2020: Today is International Museum Day. It is celebrated on May 18 every year. It was first celebrated in 1983. The International Museum Day began to be celebrated every year. The main objective is to make people aware of the importance of museums and ancient things. In India, events are held in many museums on this day, in which people are told about the museum in detail. However, mass events are not being organized this year due to coronavirus pandemic. Nevertheless, people are celebrating this festival by making a webinar.

The United Nations passed a resolution on May 18, 1983, recognizing the importance of the museum, which was to commemorate the International Museum Day every year. The main objective is to keep the ancient culture and history of different countries alive besides making people aware. It is organized by the International Museum Council, which is committed to preserving the culture and civilization of all countries around the world. It was established in 1977.

This day is of special importance because civilization and culture are our heritage, which the museum cherishes. If there was no museum, history would have been forgotten today. Our civilization and culture would have been on the verge of extinction. These museums not only allow us to know our history but also gain knowledge of civilization and culture.
How many museums are there in India:
There is a museum in all the states and union territories of India. Where you get a chance to know your history, your civilization, and culture. The Kolkata Museum is counted among the oldest museums in the country, which was established in 1814. While most of the museums in the country are in the state of Madhya Pradesh.
