States such as <strong>Rajasthan, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand<\/strong> are witnessing early winter chills, while parts of <strong>Haryana, Delhi, Chandigarh, and North Madhya Pradesh<\/strong> are also recording temperatures two to five degrees Celsius below average.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to IMD data, the cold wave is expected to persist over the <strong>northwestern plains and adjoining central India<\/strong> for at least the next six to seven days. The minimum temperature in many northern regions remains below 10\u00b0C, signaling the early onset of winter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Heavy Rainfall Predicted for South India<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>While northern states face a drop in temperatures, the southern region is set to experience widespread rainfall. The IMD has issued a <strong>heavy rain warning<\/strong> for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Tamil Nadu:<\/strong> from <strong>7 to 9 November<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Kerala:<\/strong> from <strong>8 to 10 November<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These regions are likely to experience thunderstorms accompanied by heavy showers due to moisture-laden winds from the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea. Coastal and interior areas may also see localized flooding or waterlogging in low-lying zones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Temperature Trends Across Central and Eastern India<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In <strong>central and western India<\/strong>, minimum temperatures are likely to fall by two to three degrees Celsius over the next two days, with stable conditions expected afterward.<br>Meanwhile, <strong>eastern India<\/strong> will witness a sharper decline, with temperatures likely to drop by three to four degrees Celsius in the next three days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Kashmir Records Season\u2019s Coldest Night<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The cold wave has hit <strong>Jammu and Kashmir<\/strong> particularly hard. Srinagar recorded the <strong>season\u2019s coldest night<\/strong> with a minimum temperature of <strong>0.2\u00b0C<\/strong>, while the average temperature across the Kashmir Valley dropped by one to three degrees Celsius.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recent snowfall in higher altitudes has further pulled temperatures down, and several areas in the valley have recorded <strong>sub-zero temperatures<\/strong>. The popular hill station <strong>Pahalgam<\/strong> in Anantnag district recorded <strong>-3.0\u00b0C<\/strong>, making it the coldest location in Kashmir this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Delhi\u2019s Temperature Drops, Air Quality Still \u2018Very Poor\u2019<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In the national capital, <strong>Delhi<\/strong>, temperatures dipped slightly on Friday morning as the chill intensified. However, <strong>air quality continues to remain in the \u2018very poor\u2019 category<\/strong>, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The overall <strong>Air Quality Index (AQI)<\/strong> was recorded at <strong>311<\/strong>, with 26 of the 38 monitoring stations reporting \u201cvery poor\u201d air quality. Bawana reported an AQI of 366, while Jahangirpuri followed at 348.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As per CPCB standards:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>0\u201350 is considered \u201cGood\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>51\u2013100 \u201cSatisfactory\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>101\u2013200 \u201cModerate\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>201\u2013300 \u201cPoor\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>301\u2013400 \u201cVery Poor\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>401\u2013500 \u201cSevere\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What Lies Ahead<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>According to IMD forecasts, the <strong>cold wave<\/strong> across North India is likely to continue, while <strong>heavy rainfall<\/strong> will dominate parts of South India in the coming days.
