The income tax department has made it mandatory to link all pan cards to Aadhaar. So if you have not yet linked your pan card to Aadhaar, be alert. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has fixed the deadline for a permanent account number (PAN) and Aadhaar linking on 31st March 2020. Earlier, the last date was 31st December 2019. If you did not do this by March 31, your pan card may be useless. Even now, more than 17 crore pan cardholders have not linked these two documents. All pan holders should check the status and link to Aadhaar at the earliest. In the next slide, you know how you can check the status of your pan card.
Check status from Income tax department website:
First, visit the official website of the Income Tax department www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in. Click here on the link basis of the quick link option written on the left.
There will be hyperlinks on the top of the new open page, where the application of the Aadhaar link will already be known.
By clicking on this hyperlink you have to fill the pan and Aadhaar detail.
Then click on the view link base status. You will know whether your Aadhaar and PAN link are there.
Know how to link the Aadhaar card to the pan card:
Type IDPN in the capital letter on your phone, then type Aadhaar number and pan number by giving space. Send this message to 567678 or 56161. Thereafter, the income tax department will initiate the process of linking both the documents.
Click on the link base in a quick link option on the left on the official website of the Income Tax department. If you don't create an account, register first. Here you have to fill the pan, Aadhaar number, and name, whose OTP will come to the respective mobile number. Your Aadhaar and pan will be linked after filling the OTP.
Earlier, the Income Tax department had said that the pan card can be canceled from next year without aadhaar link. Also, taxpayers will not be able to file ITR. Under section 139 AA of the Income Tax Act, it is necessary to link pan and Aadhaar for every citizen who files ITR. If both documents are not linked, taxpayers ' tax refunds may also be stuck. Also, the income tax department can cancel the pan card without aadhaar link.
