At present Aadhaar card is the most important document for any person. It is used in many public and private activities. Very often, the Aadhaar cardholder needs to update the mobile number or address in his Aadhaar card. The Aadhaar card needs to be updated due to the wrong address being printed or the old address. Cardholders can update the address in their Aadhaar card online sitting at home.

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) facilitates cardholders to update their address. The authority has also informed the people in this regard by a tweet. "You can easily update the address online in your Aadhaar card," UIDAI wrote in a tweet. You will have to get an OTP on the registered mobile number, log-in, and scan a photo of address proof. The authority has also put a link to a video in its tweet. Let's know what the process of updating the address in the Aadhaar card in this article.

Step 1. The cardholder will first have to visit the UIDAI website https://uidai.gov.in/.

Step 2. Here the cardholder will have to go to the My Adhaar tab and first click on Update your Aadhaar and then Update your address online.

Step 3. Then a new page will come openly on the screen. Here the cardholder will have to click on the Proceed update address tab.

Step 4. Now a new page will come openly on the screen. Here the cardholder will have to click on the send OTP option by entering his Aadhaar number and captcha.

Step 5. Now the cardholder will receive an OTP on his registered number. This OTP has to be entered and click on the log-in. (An active mobile number must be registered with Aadhaar card to get OTP).

Step 6. Now the cardholder will see the option of update address via address proof. The cardholder will have to select it and enter his new address.

Step 7. Now the cardholder will have to upload the color photo of the relevant documents through mobile or scan. At the same time, the further process has to be completed.

Step 8. Thereafter, there will be verification of the application for updating the Aadhaar sent by the cardholder. The new address will then be updated on the Aadhaar card. The cardholder will be sent the new Aadhaar card by post in a few days.

If the cardholder has not registered his mobile number at the time of enrolment or the cardholder wants to register his new mobile number with Aadhaar card, the cardholder has to go to the permanent enrolment center. The applicant does not need to submit any documents to update or register the mobile number in his aadhaar.

Step 1. The cardholder will first have to visit the unique identification authority of India (UIDAI) website https://uidai.gov.in/. Here the cardholder will have to go to the 'My Aadhaar' tab and click on the 'Locate An Enrolment Client Centre.' Now a page will open where the cardholders can know the address of their nearest enrolment center by providing relevant information.

Step 2. Now the cardholder will have to go to the enrolment center and fill up the Aadhaar improvement form.

Step 3. In this form, the cardholder will have to enter his active mobile number, which is to be updated in Aadhaar.

Step 4. Now the cardholder will have to submit this form and provide his biometrics for certification.

Step 5. Now the cardholder will get a slip. An update request number (URN) will be given in this slip.

Step 6. Cardholders can use this URN to track the status of the Aadhaar update.
