Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced through a press conference in New Delhi today that the last date for linking Aadhaar card and pan card has now been extended till 30 June. With this, the finance minister has also extended the date of the 'dispute resolution' scheme further. Let me tell you that the finance minister has also made certain special announcements on income tax and Goods and Services Tax (GST). Finance Minister Today said that the last date for filing of income tax returns for the financial year 2018-19 has also been extended till 30 June. With this, the interest in TDS has been reduced from 18% to 9%. Clearly, all these announcements have been made because of the growing coronavirus outbreak in the country.
The Income Tax department has once again extended the deadline for linking pan cards to Aadhaar till 31 March 2020. If we discuss the earlier time frame, it was 31 December 2019. So far, those who do not know about it tell them that it is mandatory to link Aadhaar with a pan card. If you fail to do so, your ITR will be rejected, and the PAN card will be deactivated. To avoid such results, we are giving you a step by step guide to link the Aadhaar card to the PAN card, which lets you link your Aadhaar card with a pan card very easily.
Documents that are needed:
For the linking process, you will need your Aadhaar card, which has a 12 digit number. You will also need your PAN card, which has a 10-digit alphanumeric number. Your mobile number will also have to be linked with Aadhaar, as OTP will be sent for authentication. Once you have all this, you can proceed to link.
How to link Aadhaar card and PAN card via SMS:
You can send this message to either 567678 or 56161. However, this is possible only if your Aadhaar card and PAN card are linked to the same mobile number. If it is not, you will not be able to link your Aadhaar card with a pan card via SMS. However, if you want to do so, you tell you that you need to first write the UIDPAN in the message, then you have to enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number here. Then you have to enter your 10-digit alphanumeric number, i.e., PAN card number by giving space. You can then send this message to 567678 or 56161. You also have to take care of one thing here that you have to send this message from your registered mobile number. As soon as this process is completed, you are going to have a reply on the same message after some time, which is going to make you aware that your Aadhaar number is linked to your pan number.
Linking through the website of the income tax department:
For this, you first have to register yourself on the income tax website. However, you have to do this only if you are not registered. However, if you already have a login ID, you don't have to register yourself. You can log here via your ID password. Now the window that is going to open here is going to help you link your Aadhaar card to the PAN card. However, if you don't see this window, you can easily go to profile settings and go to the link base. You'll then have to complete the on-screen instruction, and you're going to be very easily linked to your Pan card. However, before that, your number will come with an OTP that you need to enter here. Your Aadhaar card is then going to be linked to your pan card.
