In many countries, including India, Father's Day is celebrated on the third Sunday of June. This time on June 21, i.e., today is Father's Day 2020. Father's Day began to celebrate America. The motivation to celebrate this day was from Mother's Day in the year 1909. In Washington's Spokane city, Sonora Dod started the day in remembrance of her father. In the year 1909, a sermon was being given on Mother's Day at the old Sentinel Presbyterian Church in Spokane, Washington, after which Dodd felt that Father's Day should also be celebrated like Mother's Day.
Role of many Presidents of America:
In the year 1916, the then US President Woodrow Wilson approved the proposal to celebrate Father's Day. In the year 1924, the then President Calvin Kuliz declared it a national event. In 1966, President Lyndon B. Johnson decided to celebrate this special day for the first time on the third Sunday of June every year.
There is another story:
Father's Day is also celebrated on different dates in many countries of the world. Contrary to the general perception of American history, it is also said that Father's Day was celebrated on June 19, 1910, at Fairmont in West Virginia. Earlier on December 6, 1907, a special day dedicated to the father was held in honor of the 210 fathers killed in a mine accident in Mongah, West Virginia. The first Father's Day church is still present in Fairmont in the name of the central United Methodist Church.
