The government can bring such a facility, eliminating the need for toll plazas. The federal government intends to implement a new toll collection system to address these issues. The government will shortly put into place ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Reader) cameras, a new GPS-based toll system for collecting tolls.

How will this GPS-based system work?

This ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Reader) technology will read the car's license plate, and the toll tax will be taken out of the vehicle owner's account. The cameras placed at the entry and exit polls will be a determining factor in this system. These cameras will take a picture of the license plate and subtract toll fees using the vehicle identification number—a better alternative to Fastag, maybe this new ANPR system.

A study by the Transport Corporation of India and the IIM in Calcutta found that idle cars at toll booths waste oil worth about Rs 1 lakh crore. On the other hand, traffic delays at toll booths cost about Rs 40,000 every year. So the country loses 1 lakh 45 thousand crores due to toll nakas, or there is a loss in crores of rupees. So GPS technology will soon be turned on to safeguard your money and the country's economy in this situation.

The vehicle number plate may also change.

The government may soon introduce big changes to automobile license plates as well. The new license plate will also have a GPS along with the car number. The Union Transport Ministry has demanded that GPS number plates be installed on new automobiles. Additionally, old automobiles now require the installation of new license plates.

These new license plates will also have a new GPS fitted. Additionally, a piece of software will be placed at the toll booth, causing the toll tax to be withdrawn from your account as soon as the car drives off. Now that it has a GPS, your vehicle's license plates won't be regular anymore. The Union Transport Ministry has ordered that new automobiles be equipped with GPS number plates.

On older vehicles, however, the prior license plate must be replaced with the current one. This will involve mounting the GPS device on the license plate. In addition, a piece of software that will automatically lower the toll once you reach the toll plaza will be installed.
