The fourth match of the Indian Premier League 2020 (IPL 2020) was played between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Tuesday. In the match, Chennai lost by 16 runs. During the match, Chennai captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni came to bat at number seven, which was criticized by former India batsman and two-time IPL winner Captain Gautam Gambhir.

When Dhoni came to bat, the team had to make 103 runs on 38 balls. At the other end, Faf du Plessis was struggling with 17 runs on 18 balls. Talking to a sports website, Gambhir said, "Frankly speaking, I was a little shocked. I did not understand why MS Dhoni came to bat at No. 7 and sent Ruturaj Gaikwad to bat before himself. You should come forward and lead, and this is not leading a team. Chasing 217, when you came to bat at No. 7, the match is already over. It appeared Faf was fighting alone. Yes, you can talk about MS Dhoni's last over when he hit three sixes out of the ground. But to be honest, it was of no use.

If any other captain came to bat at No. 7, there would have been a lot of judgments:

Gambhir further said that if another captain came to bat at No. 7, it would have been very critical for him. But this is MS Dhoni. Perhaps that's why people don't wanna talk about it. When you don't have Suresh Raina, you are trying to convince people that Sam Curran is better than you. You are assuring the people that Ruturaj Gaikwad, Curran, Kedar Jadhav, Faf du Plessis, M. Vijay are all the better than you.

There was no intention to win the match - Gambhir:

If you did in the last over, the Gambhir further said that if Dhoni came to No. 4 or 5 with Faf, they could have won the match. Perhaps there was no intention to win the match. I felt that after the first six overs, the team had accepted the defeat. Perhaps MS batted to the end to get the rhythm so that she could play good innings in the upcoming matches.

Batting first, the Rajasthan team scored 216 for seven wickets in 20 overs. In response, Chennai could make 200 runs. Dhoni is being criticized and said that Chennai could have won the match if he came to bat first. After the match, when the Dhoni was questioned about coming down to bat, he said, "I have not been batting for quite a long time. The 14-day quarantine has raised difficulties. It may be recalled that 13 members, including two Chennai players, had become infected with the coronavirus. The team had to spend more than a week in quarantine, and the team could not participate in the important training session. That is what he was referring to. Dhoni scored 29 runs on 17 balls in the match.

Steve Smith and Sanju Samson batted very well:

Dhoni further said that chasing a target of 217 runs, we needed a very good start, which did not happen. Steve Smith and Sanju Samson batted best. For Rajasthan, Sanju Samson scored 74 with the help of nine sixes and one four in a mere 32 ball. Dhoni further said that we need to give credit to their bowlers. Once you have watched the first innings, you know what the ball's length has to keep. Our spinners made a mistake by making a very full-length ball. If we had stopped them under 200, there could have been a good competition.
