New Rules for Driving Licenses: No need to visit the Regional Transport Office (RTO) and wait in large queues to get a driver's license. The central government has made the rules for making a driver's license quite simple.

A driving test is not required for DL.

The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has made a statement that now you are not required to take any driving test by going to the RTO, which is now in effect.

Applicants must go to driving school and take training.

Now, you can register for a driver's license in any recognized driving training facility. The applicants will get a certificate from the driving school if they complete the required training and pass the test there. The applicant's driver's license will be issued based on the driving school certificate.

What are the new rules?

The Ministry of Road and Transport has also issued some norms and regulations for training centers. This includes the area of training facilities for trainer education. Let's understand this.

1. One acre of land must be available for training skills for two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and light motor vehicles. In contrast, two acres are needed for centers for medium and heavy passenger cargo vehicles or trailers.

2. The instructor should have at least a 12th-grade diploma, five years of driving experience, and a solid understanding of traffic regulations.

3. The government has also recommended a teaching curriculum. The course for operating light motors will be a maximum of 4 weeks and up to 29 hours. The driving schools will have a two-part curriculum:

>> For 21 hours, people must learn to drive on basic roads, rural roads, city roads, parking, highways, reversing, and uphill and downhill driving, among other things.

>> The theory portion of the course will last for 8 hours and cover topics like road etiquette, traffic education, road rage, understanding the causes of accidents, first aid, and fuel efficiency while driving.
