As October 2025 is nearing its end, only 17 days are left in the month. However, during these remaining days, banks across several states will be closed for a total of 11 days. This makes October one of the busiest months for bank holidays, with multiple regional and national celebrations lined up.

Banks Closed on Second Saturday and Sunday

Banks across India were closed on Saturday, October 11, as it was the second Saturday of the month. Following that, Sunday, October 12, was also a holiday. According to the RBI Bank Holiday Schedule, banks across the country remain closed on the second and fourth Saturdays as well as on all Sundays.

While banks will reopen on Monday, several holidays are still lined up later this month. If you’re planning to visit your branch, it’s best to check the holiday schedule to avoid inconvenience.

Check Before You Visit the Bank

Even though online banking and mobile apps remain functional during holidays, branch banking services will not be available on these days. Therefore, customers are advised to plan their visits and financial transactions accordingly.

Why RBI Declares Different Holidays

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) issues bank holiday schedules every year under three categories — Negotiable Instruments Act holidays, Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) holidays, and Bank Account Closing Days. These holidays vary from state to state based on local festivals and regional events.

In short, October 2025 is filled with multiple bank holidays across India, mainly due to Diwali, Chhath Puja, and regional festivals. If you need to visit your bank, make sure to check your city’s specific holiday list in advance.
